Julie Sloat

President and Chief Operating Officer

AEP Ohio

Julie Sloat is president and chief operating officer for AEP Ohio, responsible for all aspects of electric service for AEP Ohio’s 1.5 million customers.

Previously, she was senior vice president and treasurer, responsible for American Electric Power’s treasury, trusts and investments activities. Prior to that, Sloat held several leadership positions at AEP since joining the company in 1999 in the following areas/departments:  Regulatory Case Management, Investor Relations, Strategic Initiatives, and Credit Risk Management.

In addition to her AEP career, Sloat was vice president of Corporate Finance and Investor Relations at Tween Brands, Inc., in 2008, where she was responsible for all financial planning and analysis, store finance, treasury, risk management and investor relations functions. She was employed by Bank One from 1995 to 1999, serving as a bank debt underwriter and buy-side equity analyst covering the electric utilities sector. She worked for M&T Mortgage Corp., a subsidiary of M&T Bank Corp., from 1993 to 1995.

Sloat earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a double major in finance and economics from The Ohio State University (OSU). In 1999, she received a master’s degree in business administration from OSU and was the recipient of the Faculty Recognition Academic Excellence Award and the Weidler Scholar Award.

Sloat serves as a board member for Park National Corporation (NYSE: PRK) and The Park National Bank. She also serves on the Ohio Chamber of Commerce Board, the Columbus 2020 Board, The James Foundation Board, and the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio Board of Trustees. She is a member of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission Executive Committee and is an Executive Champ for the AEP Peloton.

Sloat is an avid runner and cyclist.  She loves the Buckeyes and resides in Upper Arlington.
