Jessica White is the Public Health Scientist for the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) Office of Epidemiology.
Dr. White leads a team that coordinates research and special projects aimed at addressing public health priorities in Maricopa County, AZ. Her climate and health work began in 2015 when she served on a national workgroup of epidemiologists that pioneered methods for identifying patients experiencing heat-related illness within real-time hospital records. Along with her county colleagues, Dr. White participated in a Climate Change and Public Health Learning Collaborative through the Public Health Institute and developed the MCDPH Bridging Climate Change and Public Health, a coalition of local stakeholders. Recently, she participated in a joint effort with The Nature Conservancy, Arizona State University, and other partners to support community-generated plans for mitigating heat at a neighborhood level. Dr. White received a Doctorate of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh.
