Allison Harnden manages the City of Pittsburgh Office of Nighttime Economy.
Since 1996, Ms. Harnden has assisted 50 cities in 23 states to plan, manage and police their nighttime economies. In her current role, she works to improve life at night in neighborhoods citywide and implements Pittsburgh’s Sociable City Plan, a collection of strategies that nurture night commerce, address nightlife-related impacts to residents and assist government to adapt to a City that operates at night.
Harnden has co-authored Planning, Managing and Policing Hospitality Zones: A Practical Guide and co-wrote a chapter on Designing Nightlife for Women in David Feehan’s forthcoming book, Design Downtowns for Women; Men will Follow.
