Webinar Archive: The Convergence and Impact of Telecommunications and Energy for Smarter Cities

Event archive:

Organized by Meeting of the Minds and presented by Itron.

Program

Of all the drivers that contribute to a smart, sustainable city, two fundamental pillars rise as arguably the most critical components – telecommunications and energy. Extending current utility smart grid platform investments will be essential for smart cities of the future, and leveraging interconnected smart devices, communication networks and powerful software to analyze and share data across utility and city functions will create more efficient and reliable services for consumers. The convergence of telecommunications and energy gives cities the ability to share infrastructure and data – a foundational element of a truly thriving city.

We can embrace current technology to solve energy, water, transportation, air quality and waste management challenges. By aggregating electricity, gas and water data, a city will become more effective in delivering services to its citizens, and it will help save costs as well as reduce energy and water waste. Bringing all of this together to make a city more effective is where the real value lies.
