Andre Leroux, Executive Director of Massachusetts Smart Growth Alliance, will share best practices on how cities, towns and neighborhoods have developed cross-sector strategies to improve their cities. With a place-based, regional approach, the Smart Growth Alliance has developed a ten-step process to guide local leaders and coalitions into becoming more sustainable and effective. Their process brings together stakeholders to develop a vision and action plan for cities. How do you put together a vision? Who initiates that vision? How does a cross-sector stakeholder group implement and fund that vision?
André has been the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Smart Growth Alliance since 2007, where he established the Great Neighborhoods program to help local residents transform their communities through smart growth projects. He helped found Transportation for Massachusetts, which is a statewide coalition that advocates for increasing funding for walking, biking, and public transportation.
