Chocolate Cities — Co-Creating Liberated Spaces for People of Color

Chocolate Cities — Co-Creating Liberated Spaces for People of Color

On September 15, 2021, Meeting of the Minds convened a free, live webinar featuring Evelyn Burnett, Maica Mori and Mordecai Cargill of ThirdSpace Action Lab.

Program

ThirdSpace Action Lab (TSAL) is a grassroots solution studio which seeks to end the vicious cycle of disinvestment and displacement which negatively impacts low-income communities of color. We are institutional and community organizers, turning multidisciplinary research into evidence-based strategies and activating “third places” to co-create more liberated spaces for people of color. TSAL offers racial equity + inclusion consultation to client-partners nationally based on our analysis that is deeply rooted and informed by the history and trends we observe in Northeast Ohio.

TSAL will share their observations and insights from the 2020 twin pandemics – COVID-19 and racial uprising – and its impact locally and nationally. They will also introduce and share their newest labor of love – Chocolate City Cleveland – a multigenerational, multimedia, and multidisciplinary experiment intended to preserve our collective memory of a better past, as to imagine a brighter future for Cleveland’s Black neighborhoods and beyond.
