Meeting of the Minds Speaker
City of Akron
Dan Horrigan began his term as the 62nd Mayor of the City of Akron on January 1, 2016.
He brings sixteen years of public service and ten years as an educator to the position. Since becoming Mayor, he assisted the city in obtaining $15 million in grants for public safety and infrastructure improvements, was successful in addressing the city’s skills gap by attracting a community college, passed the City’s first non-discrimination ordinance and was also recognized by Cleveland Magazine’s Community Leader Power 100 as one of the most influential leaders in Northeast Ohio.
As Mayor continues to develop his vision to move the city forward, his priorities are on Education, Income and Health. His values – efficiency, transparency, and fiscal responsibility – are the foundational leadership qualities he abides by. Mayor strongly believes the city’s future rests on engaged and servant-style leadership and a focus on innovation in order to provide good jobs, strong neighborhoods and a vibrant urban core.
